Integrative Therapy

I offer integrative therapy in Kerry through my practice, Down the Rabbit Hole Therapies. My approach is honest, grounded, and totally real. I don’t believe in pretending that healing is easy or that everything can be “fixed” overnight. Life can be really hard, and therapy isn’t about sugar-coating things. It’s about exploring what’s really going on for you, finding some clarity, and figuring out what you need to move through it — not around it.

I use a blend of therapeutic models that work together to suit you — not the other way around. You won’t be shoved into a rigid box of diagnosis or textbook theory. I draw from existential, humanistic, person-centred, psychodynamic, and Jungian approaches. At the core of my work is art therapy — not about being good at art, but about making space for expression when words just don’t cut it.

We use a blend of therapeutic models, including person-centred counselling, parts work, and nervous system education to support lasting change.

What Is Integrative Therapy?

Integrative therapy means that I use different psychological theories and tools, depending on who you are, what you’ve been through, and where you are now. You are not a diagnosis. You're a whole person. Your past, present, beliefs, patterns, memories, relationships — all of it matters. I don’t just treat symptoms. I work with your full experience.

Some of the approaches I blend include:

  • Humanistic – You are seen as capable, with the inner strength to heal. I help you reconnect with that.

  • Existential – We look at the big questions: What does life mean to you? What’s your purpose? Where’s the value?

  • Person-Centred – This means I follow your pace. I don’t push. I listen, deeply.

  • Psychodynamic – We explore the patterns from your past that might still be shaping how you feel and act today.

  • Jungian – Here’s where things get interesting. We explore archetypes, symbols, synchronicity — the kind of therapy that looks at dreams, intuition, and those “right person, right time” moments that are hard to explain but deeply meaningful.

How I Use Art Therapy in Sessions

Art therapy helps people access parts of themselves they don’t always have words for. You don’t need to be an artist — not even close. The point isn’t to make something that looks “good.” It’s about expression, regulation, and insight.

Sometimes a scribble holds more truth than a sentence.

Art therapy can help when you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re hitting the same walls over and over. It’s especially helpful in trauma work. Trauma isn’t always available to conscious memory — but it shows up in your body, behaviours, and nervous system. Art lets you bypass some of the walls your brain puts up to protect you.

You don’t need to talk for the session to be powerful. You can sit in silence, draw, paint, cry, talk — or all of the above. This is a space for you.

What to Expect When You Work With Me

Therapy with me is relaxed and conversational. It’s not clinical. It’s not stiff. You can show up just as you are. You don’t need to be “doing well” to deserve support.

In sessions, I’ll reflect things back to you. Not just what you say — but how you say it. I’ll help you see things clearly. I’ll challenge your thinking gently. I’ll hold your emotions when they feel too much. I’ll help you find the patterns. Not to blame yourself, but to understand what you’ve learned to do to survive — and then help you learn new ways to live, not just cope.

We move at your pace. Some days you’ll feel like talking, other days you might want to draw, paint, or just sit in silence. All of that is allowed.

Why the Name “Down the Rabbit Hole”?

Because therapy is a bit like that.

You start somewhere, thinking you're coming to talk about one thing. Then we begin exploring, and it turns out there’s more underneath. Not in a scary way — but in a revealing way. Things that didn’t make sense start to connect. You begin to notice your own story and how it’s shaped your view of the world. You find clarity. You find self-trust. You find tools that work for you. You get your power back.
