Psychotherapy Kerry

I offer psychotherapy and counselling in Kerry, mostly to women, though I work with men too. People come to me when life stops making sense, when they feel overwhelmed, burnt out, lost, angry, ashamed — or just done.

I don't offer advice or magic solutions. I offer space. Space to slow down, say what you’ve never said out loud, and notice what’s really going on inside. My aim is to help you understand yourself better, and give you practical tools to cope, self-regulate, and heal.

We use a blend of therapeutic models, including person-centred counselling, parts work, and nervous system education to support lasting change.

What is Psychotherapy, Really?

Psychotherapy is often confused with counselling, and though they can overlap, they’re not exactly the same.

Counselling tends to deal with present-day issues. It’s usually short-term, goal-based, and focused on what’s going on right now — like work stress, relationship problems, anxiety spikes, or specific life events.

Psychotherapy goes deeper. It’s about tracing your emotional responses back to their roots. Why do you react the way you do? Where did that belief start? Why do certain patterns repeat in your life? Psychotherapy looks at the full picture — your past, your relationships, your nervous system, your defences, and the deeper stories that shape your sense of self.

With psychotherapy, we’re not just treating symptoms — we’re unpacking the system underneath.

What Happens in Psychotherapy Sessions?

There’s no formula. Some days you talk and I listen. Other days, I might slow things down, challenge what you’re saying, or ask you to sit with a feeling a little longer. We might work with the body, the breath, or how you react in the room.

I use a mix of approaches depending on what you need:

  • Trauma-informed therapy: gentle, safe, and steady — especially if your past is difficult to talk about

  • Psychodynamic therapy: we explore unconscious patterns and how early relationships still affect you today

  • Person-centred therapy: led by you, always respectful of your pace and your boundaries

  • Somatic approaches: helping you understand how trauma lives in your body, not just your thoughts

  • Parts work (inner child, inner critic): recognising that you hold different internal voices and learning how to relate to them differently

  • Psychoeducation: understanding how the brain, nervous system, and emotions work so you’re not stuck in shame or fear

It’s not about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you understand yourself, so you can start responding instead of reacting, healing instead of coping.

Who I Work With

I specialise in working with complex emotional issues. These aren’t surface-level problems. Often they’ve been carried for years. Sometimes clients don’t even know where the pain started — they just know they’re exhausted from carrying it alone.

Here are some of the things people bring into the room:

  • PTSD and complex trauma

  • Sexual abuse and violence

  • Domestic abuse

  • Abortion and reproductive grief

  • Living with chronic illness or invisible conditions

  • Family estrangement

  • Grief, including complicated or unresolved grief

  • Panic attacks, anxiety, and depression with unclear origins

Therapy with me is gentle but deep. It’s steady. It’s honest. You get space to unravel what’s been tightly held.

No Labels, No Pressure

You don’t need a diagnosis or a neat explanation to come to therapy. If you feel like something’s off, that’s enough. You’re allowed to be confused. You’re allowed to not know where to begin. That’s where we start.

I’m not going to rush you. I’m not going to give you fake positivity. But I will meet you where you are and walk with you from there.
